Cervical cancer is most common in women between the ages of 30 and 60.  Every year about 900 people in The Netherlands get cervical cancer, of which about 200 die. Thanks to the population screening, precancerous stages of cervical cancer can be detected early.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a virus that can be transmitted through sexual contact. Nearly everyone is infected with HPV at some point – men and women alike. The body usually removes the virus on its own. The virus can cause various forms of cancer. The HPV vaccination gives you effective protection against HPV infection.
