One Health European Joint Programme
The One Health European Joint Programme (EJP) promotes One Health in Europe through joint actions on foodborne zoonoses, antimicrobial resistance and emerging microbiological hazards. The One Health EJP has started in January 2018 and will run until the end of 2022.
Sustainable EU One Health framework
The aim of the One Health EJP is to create a sustainable European One Health framework by integration and alignment of medical, veterinary and food institutes through joint programming of research agendas matching the needs of European and national policy makers and stakeholders.
The consortium consists of 38 acclaimed food, veterinary and medical laboratories and institutes across 19 Member States in Europe and the Med-Vet-Net-Association. From each participating country, at least one reference laboratory from the public health / human medicine domain and one reference laboratory from the food / veterinary domain is involved. Organisations from the Netherlands are Wageningen Bioveterinary Research WUR, the Netherlands Centre for One Health (NCOH) and RIVMNational Institute for Public Health and the Environment .
Programme leader is the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety, Anses. The Dutch organisations participating in the One Health EJP are RIVM, Wageningen Bioveterinary Research (WBVR) and the Netherlands Centre for One Health (NCOH). RIVM coordinated the development of the Strategic Research Agenda.
Strategic Research Agenda
In collaboration with national experts of the partner organisations, a final Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) was published in September 2019. The SRA describes the priority research and integrative topics identified by the experts with regard to the three domains within the scope of the One Health EJP: foodborne zoonoses, antimicrobial resistance and emerging threats. The SRA will be revised after the implementation of the One Health EJP.
