More information about the National Colorectal Cancer Screening ProgrammeEach year, around 13,000 people in the Netherlands develop colorectal cancer and around 5,000 people die from this disease.  Colorectal cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in the Netherlands.  The screening programme enables early detection, which can prevent that people develop colorectal cancer or can enable better treatment.  If colorectal cancer is detected early, people have a greater chance of being cured and less far-reaching treatment is required.
