In 2021, the number of tuberculosis (TB) patients in the Netherlands rose slightly compared to the preceding year: up to 680 TB patients from 622 in 2020. However, the 2021 number was lower than the number for 2019 (754 patients). Despite the slight increase in 2021, the number of patients remains consistent with the downward trend in TB cases over the past 20 years. These are among the findings presented in the annual report ‘Tuberculosis in the Netherlands’ (TiN) published by the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM).

Today, RIVM published the surveillance report ‘Tuberculosis in the Netherlands’ (TiN). This report presents epidemiological data on tuberculosis in the Netherlands in 2021. RIVM already published key figures in March of this year. This annual report explains these in further detail. The report also contains updated treatment results for patients diagnosed in 2020.
