Man receives COVID-19 vaccination

For the first time, the new RIVM vaccination update shows vaccination turnout for people aged 45-64 years per municipality. This involves people who have received at least one COVID-19 vaccination. At this point, 79% of the people in this group have received at least one vaccination, and 32% are fully vaccinated. Vaccination turnout among people over 65 by municipality was posted previously. Turnout among people over 65 is currently 91% for the first vaccination, and 83% are fully vaccinated.

Turnout among people aged 45-64 years is expected to continue increasing in the next few weeks. Some of the people in this age group have already scheduled an appointment for a first vaccination in the near future. Also, not all vaccinations are fully registered with RIVM yet.

Geographic distribution

Geographically, turnout among people aged 45-64 years is similar to people over 65; there are few regional differences. Vaccination turnout has been slightly lower in a few municipalities in the Dutch ‘Bible belt’ and in bigger cities. The lower vaccination coverage in the municipality of Vaals is worth noting. This may be because some of the residents are getting their vaccinations across the border in Germany. Many people with a German background live in Vaals.

Rising vaccination turnout

Since last week, all adults living in the Netherlands can make an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccination by the Municipal Public Health Services (GGDs). The figures show a continuous upward trend in vaccination turnout over time for many age groups. 64% of all adults living in the Netherlands have now received at least their first vaccination. At least 35% are fully vaccinated.
