In the autumn round of 2025, a total of 2,253,476 COVID-19 vaccinations were registered by RIVM. Vaccination coverage for people over 60 is 41.7%. Vaccination coverage varies by age group and region.

The new SARS-CoV-2 variant XFG (also referred to as Stratus) causes hardly any difference in symptoms than previous variants of the coronavirus. Similarly, the symptoms do not seem to be more severe. This is the result of an exploratory study by RIVM among Infection Radar survey participants.

From 26 August 2025 on, the first people will receive an invitation for COVID-19 vaccination. RIVM will send the invitations till mid-October to people aged 60 years and older. The COVID-19 vaccination will be given from 15 September to 5 December 2025 at vaccination centres operated by the Municipal Public Health Services (GGDs) throughout the Netherlands.

The new COVID-19 vaccination round will start on 15 September 2025. The COVID-19 vaccination is intended for people who are at higher risk, with the aim of continuing to offer more effective protection against hospital admission or death resulting from COVID-19. The COVID-19 vaccination will be available until 5 December 2025.

In autumn 2025, there will be another vaccination campaign against COVID-19. The State Secretary of Youth, Prevention and Sport from the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) announced this decision in a letter to the House of Representatives of the Netherlands. He is following the advisory opinion of the Health Council of the Netherlands regarding COVID-19 vaccination for 2025.
