Today, RIVM will publish the new edition of the Dutch Food Composition Database (Nederlands Voedingsstoffenbestand, NEVO). This contains information on the nutritional value of more than 2,300 food products, including their composition in terms of protein, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins. In this edition of NEVO-online, the information on cereal products and types of flour has been updated. New food products have been added as well, such as almond flour, coconut flour and poffertjes (Dutch small pancakes).

Furthermore, this edition allows for the selection of a new group of nutrients, known as free sugars. These are sugars that consumers, cooks or manufacturers add to food products. This can be granulated sugar, but also honey or juice concentrate.

About NEVO-online

NEVO-online is the Netherlands’ official food composition database. It is a key information source for everyone interested in the composition of food products, dietary advice, nutritional advice or food research. In addition to giving nutrient values, it also acknowledges sources and provides information on available recipes. You can find more information about the food composition database on the NEVO website, where you can also download the data set.

Netherlands Food Information Resource

Together with other databases, NEVO makes up the Netherlands Food Information Resource (Nederlands Voedingsmiddelen Informatie Portaal, NVIP). In addition to publishing sound data on the composition of food products, its aim is to link databases so that users may be able to find the data they are looking for more efficiently.
