Prof. J.J. (Johan) Polder

Prof. Johan Polder is a health economist with a focus on the tenability of healthcare expenditure and the economic aspects of prevention. He has been a researcher at RIVM since 2002 and an endowed professor at Tilburg University’s Tranzo Centre since 2007.

Prof. W.J.G.M. (Willie) Peijnenburg

Prof. Willie Peijnenburg is an experienced researcher into the effects of chemicals on the environment. He is currently senior researcher at RIVM. In addition, he is a professor at Leiden University’s Institute of Environmental Sciences (CML) and a visiting professor at Dalian University of Technology in Dalian (China). Prof. Peijnenburg has ample experience with the translation of ecotoxicological knowledge, related concepts and AI-based modelling into policy, lifecycle analyses and sustainability assessments.

Dr J.M. (Jan) Roels

Doctor Jan Roels (1955) is head of the RIVM Centre for Safety of Substances and Products.

Prof. A.M. (Ana Maria) de Roda Husman

Prof. (Ana Maria) de Roda Husman (1967) is head of the environmental department at the RIVM Centre for Infectious Disease Control. She holds a chair in ‘Global changes and environmentally transmitted infectious diseases’ at the Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences at Utrecht University.

Prof. J.F. (Jack) Schijven

Professor Jack Schijven is a modeller at the department for statistics, informatics and modelling of the of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). He is professor by special appointment for Quantitative Microbiological Water Safety at Utrecht University.

Prof. D. (Dick) van Soolingen

Professor Dick van Soolingen (1957) is head of the Tuberculosis Reference Laboratory at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment, RIVM and professor at Radboud University, teaching Translational Tuberculosis Research.

Prof. F.R. (Flemming) Cassee

Flemming R. Cassee is one of RIVM’s two chief science officers (CSO) and professor of Inhalation Toxicology at Utrecht University, Institute for Risk Assessment Science. He researches the health effects of airborne particulates, including fine particles, nanomaterials and microplastics, gaseous components like ozone and nitrogen dioxide, micro-organisms and complex mixtures such as wood smoke, airplane cabin air and the indoor environment.

Professor C.A.C.M. (Cécile) van Els

Cécile van Els (1961) is an expert in the field of immunology of infectious diseases and vaccines at the RIVM Centre for Immunology of Infectious Diseases and Vaccines. She wants to gain more insight into the dynamics and quality of protective immune mechanisms against human pathogens and combines research on immune mechanisms and clinical research in patient populations.

Prof. M.E.E. (Mirjam) Kretzschmar

Professor Mirjam Kretzschmar is Chief Science Officer (CSO) of Mathematical Disease Modelling at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). She is also an associate professor at the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care, University Medical Center Utrecht (UMC Utrecht).
