Testing for the Andes virus

Passengers from the cruise ship MV Hondius are tested for the Andes virus every week during the quarantine period. This way, infections are detected quickly and in case of a positive result, persons can be treated immediately. Testing also helps prevent the possible further spread of the virus. The risk that the virus will continue to spread among the general population is still very low.

Inhalation toxicology publications

Overview of all RIVM reports and scientific articles on inhalation toxicology.

What RIVM does

RIVM does scientific research on the adverse effects of inhaled substances. RIVM uses that knowledge to advise the government on the potential harmfulness, or health risks, of airborne substances. Thanks to this research, RIVM can contribute meaningfully in international debate and respond quickly to new air quality and safety concerns.

Ebola - information for travellers

There is currently an outbreak of the Ebola virus (Bundibugyo virus) in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). There have also been several reported cases in Uganda. Those infected in Uganda had either travelled to the DRC or cared for patients from the DRC. As a traveller, the chances of you coming (or having come) into contact with the Ebola virus are very small. Even so, the municipal health services (GGD) and RIVM would like to highlight some precautions you can take and possible symptoms to look out for.
