Samenvatting

Dit is de derde adviesnotitie van de Nationale Adviesgroep Cabinelucht (NAC). In deze adviesnotitie wordt een concreet advies gegeven met een aanbeveling om vliegend personeel met gezondheidsklachten en vermoeden van 'aerotoxisch syndroom' voor multidisciplinaire zorg. Het doel van deze adviesnotitie is passende zorg gaan bieden met de mogelijkheid om onderzoek te doen naar een al dan niet causaal verband tussen blootstelling aan chemische stoffen via cabinelucht en gezondheidsklachten bij vliegend personeel. 

De (N-acetylcysteïne) is in 2015 door het ministerie van Infrastructuur en Waterstaat (IenW) opgericht naar aanleiding van internationale discussies over de oorzaak van de gezondheidsklachten bij piloten en cabinepersoneel van vliegtuigen. Het RIVM voert sinds 2020 het secretariaat van de NAC. De adviesgroep informeert alle betrokken partijen over internationale onderzoeken naar de kwaliteit van cabinelucht in vliegtuigen. Deze adviesnotitie is opgesteld door leden van de NAC en zal namens (Ministerie van Infrastructuur en Waterstaat) worden aangeboden aan de minister en de Tweede Kamer.

Abstract

This is the third advisory note of the Dutch National Cabin Air Advisory Group (NAC). In this advisory note, a concrete recommendation is provided, advising that flying personnel with health complaints and suspected 'aerotoxic syndrome' be referred for multidisciplinary care. The aim of this advisory note is to start providing appropriate care while enabling research into whether or not there is a causal relationship between exposure to chemical substances via cabin air and health complaints among flying personnel.

The NAC was established in 2015 by the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management (IenW), following international discussions about the cause of health complaints among pilots and cabin crew. Since 2020, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) has served as the secretariat of the NAC. The advisory group informs all relevant stakeholders about international research on the quality of cabin air in aircraft. This advisory note has been drafted by members of the NAC and will, on behalf of IenW, be submitted to the Minister and the House of Representatives.
