Abstract

This report contains information on air emissions by municipal solid waste incineration in the Netherlands. This information is based on measurements, carried out by TNO, between March 1990 and January 1991. The purpose of this report is to present broadly accepted emission figures, as a base for emission studies. Emission factors for components in the stackgas have been derived expressed in grams per ton of waste. In 1985 2.45 million tons of municipal waste were incinerated and in 1990, 2.7 million tons. In 1995, 2000 and 2010 waste incineration will amount to 4.3, 7.1 and 8.4 million tons, successively.
