Evaluation of Lekker naar buiten! Promotional scheme of the Jong Leren Eten programme, round 6, school year 2023-2024
Samenvatting
Het ministerie van Landbouw, Visserij, Voedselzekerheid en Natuur (LVVN wil kinderen en jongeren via het onderwijs vaker in aanraking brengen met gezonde en duurzame voeding. Dit om hen op een zo praktische manier te leren om gezonde en duurzame keuzes te maken. LVVN (Ministerie van Landbouw, Visserij, Voedselzekerheid en Natuur ) heeft daarvoor de stimuleringsregeling Jong Leren Eten 'Lekker naar buiten!' opgezet. Sinds 2018 kunnen scholen uit het primair, speciaal, voortgezet en middelbaar beroepsonderwijs elk schooljaar aan deze regeling deelnemen.
Het RIVM heeft deze regeling tot nu toe elke ronde geëvalueerd. Uit deze zesde ronde blijkt weer dat scholen veel belangstelling hebben voor de stimuleringsregeling en er positief over zijn. De belangrijkste reden om mee te doen, is dat scholen zo aandacht kunnen schenken aan voeding/natuur. Bijvoorbeeld door materialen te kopen, hierover onderwijs te geven en gastlessen te organiseren.
Scholen konden activiteiten kiezen binnen drie categorieën: 'moestuinieren', 'koken' en 'excursies en gastlessen'. In ronde 6 was voor elke categorie ongeveer evenveel belangstelling.
Voor ronde 6 hebben 1.189 scholen de bijdrage uit de stimuleringsregeling aangevraagd. Daarvan hebben 339 scholen een bijdrage ontvangen, omdat er een maximumbedrag voor de stimuleringsregeling beschikbaar was. Hiermee zijn 43.758 leerlingen en studenten bereikt. De meeste scholen voerden de activiteiten samen met andere lokale organisaties uit, zoals (stads)boerderijen, plaatselijke boeren, diëtisten/voedingscoaches, moestuincoaches, restaurants of detailhandel in de regio. Van de deelnemende scholen wil 75 procent na afloop van de regeling aandacht blijven geven aan het onderwerp voeding.
Scholen konden maximaal 2.000 euro per schoollocatie krijgen om de activiteiten uit te voeren. Gemiddeld is 1.749 euro per schoollocatie uitgekeerd. Volgens de meeste scholen dekte deze bijdrage de kosten voor de activiteiten. In ronde 6 heeft de stimuleringsregeling in totaal 682.546 euro gekost. Het geld is vooral besteed aan de activiteiten. Een klein deel was nodig om de stimuleringsregeling te ontwikkelen en uit te voeren.
Abstract
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature (LVVN) wants to increase the exposure of children and young people to healthy and sustainable nutrition through education. The purpose is to teach them to make healthy and sustainable choices in a practical way. To that end, LVVN has launched the promotional scheme Lekker naar buiten! (It's nice outside) under the umbrella of the Jong Leren Eten (Learning how to eat while still young) programme. Schools providing primary, special, secondary and vocational education have had the ability to participate in this scheme since 2018.
RIVM has so far evaluated each round of the scheme. The sixth round showed once again that schools are very interested in joining the promotional scheme and are positive about its offerings. The main reason for participating is that this enables schools to devote attention to nutrition/nature. They do so, for example, by purchasing and using material in their education and hosting guest lessons.
Schools can select activities from three categories: 'keeping a vegetable garden', 'cooking' and 'excursions and guest lessons'. In round 6, these categories attracted roughly equal amounts of attention.
For round 6, 1,189 schools applied for a contribution from the promotional scheme. 339 schools received the contribution, as the maximum amount allocated to the promotional scheme had been reached. The scheme thus benefitted 43,758 pupils and students. Most schools organised the activities together with other local organisations, such as city and rural farms, local farmers, dieticians/nutrition coaches, vegetable garden coaches, restaurants or retailers in the area. Of the participating schools, 75 per cent want to continue to devote attention to nutrition after the scheme ends.
Schools were eligible to receive a maximum of 2,000 euros per school location to organise the activities. On average, 1,749 euros per school location was paid out. Most schools say that this covered the costs of the activities. In round 6, the promotional scheme cost a total of 682,546 euros, with most of that money being spent on the activities. A small part was needed to develop and implement the promotional scheme.
