Since September 2021, the Network for Health Research in Disasters (GOR Network) has been studying the short-term and long-term effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and related measures on the general health and well-being of the population of the Netherlands.
Who are involved?
The GOR Network consists of the local Municipal Public Health Services (GGDs), GGD GHOR Nederland (the national umbrella organisation of the GGDs and Regional Medical Assistance Organisations), the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), the Netherlands Institute for Health Services Research (Nivel), and ARQ National Psychotrauma Centre.
In addition, the GOR Network is working with various other parties, including the Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG), the Dutch Youth Institute (NJI), the Trimbos Institute, Statistics Netherlands (CBS), the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment (SZW) and the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa). The project is subsidised by the Netherlands Organisation for Health Research and Development (ZonMw) on behalf of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS).
How long will the research programme run?
The Integrated Health Monitor COVID-19 will take place from 2021 to 2025. A quarterly update on the results will be posted on this website and communicated to professionals. A literature review will also be published once a year.
Why is there an Integrated Health Monitor COVID-19?
This research programme provides access to the most recent and representative information on how the COVID-19 crisis has impacted the physical and mental health of the population of the Netherlands. The GOR Network uses this information to offer advice to professionals, public administrators at local, regional and national levels, and the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS). Knowing more about the effects of COVID-19 helps in formulating policies to mitigate health damage and keep the population of the Netherlands as healthy as possible. The GOR Network offers advice to policy-makers and operational perspectives for professionals.
