Long COVID

Some people have long-term symptoms after a SARS-CoV-2 infection. This is referred to as ‘Long COVID’ or ‘PASC’: Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2. These symptoms may persist for several weeks after COVID-19, but could sometimes last several months.

How are children tested for COVID-19? This video shows how it works. Note: this animated video is based on a situation in which the child has symptoms.  It is also possible for children to be tested without symptoms if they were in contact with someone who has COVID-19. In that case, there are different rules for how long the quarantine lasts.  

Research on transmission at primary schools

We know that children are more contagious as they grow older. In general, the younger the children, the less significant the role they play in spreading the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. Children do probably transmit the new variants, such as the UK variant, somewhat faster and more frequently. How much faster and more frequently? We do not know enough about this yet. To find out more, RIVM is researching how the virus spreads at primary schools.

Vaccination registration by RIVM and your privacy

If you agree, the Municipal Public Health Service (GGD) or another vaccinator will pass on some data about your vaccination to RIVM. The privacy statement explains why vaccination records are kept. It also states which data is involved, what happens to that data and how your privacy is arranged.
