Within the Memorandum of Understanding between The Netherlands and India, a range of activities have been selected for joint Indian-Dutch execution.
These activities focus on Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as pilot provinces. The focus lies on practical activities contributing to a local reduction of the pressure of antimicrobial resistance, namely antibiotic stewardship and infection prevention in hospitals. Also, a pilot on One Health surveillance of antibiotic resistance has been executed in Andhra Pradesh.
Goal of the project
Within the Memorandum of Understanding between The Netherlands and India, activities on AMR strive to support a sustainable approach towards AMR in India, and to mutually share knowledge and experience on the reduction of AMR in a One Health approach.

The Netherlands: Erasmus MC, Radboud University.
India: NCDC, local governmental institutions and hospitals in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Highlights
During over one year, a One Health AMR surveillance pilot was executed in Andhra Pradesh, informing on the prevalence of antibiotic resistance in chicken, clinical infections and the environment.

RIVM coordinates the activities on AMR and contributes experts on One Health surveillance of AMR/AMU.
