Antimicrobial resistance
The European Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA) identified AMR as one of the top three serious cross-border threats to health. The Netherlands is internationally known for its approach to antimicrobial resistance: the One Health approach. Resistance rates in the Netherlands are relatively low, compared to those in other countries. Antibiotic-resistant bacteria do not respect international borders. That is why international collaboration is a priority in the Dutch approach to antimicrobial resistance.
