The Public Health Monitor Youth provides information on the health, wellbeing and lifestyle of Dutch secondary school students. The Municipal Public Health Services (GGDs), GGD GHOR Netherlands and the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) collaborate to conduct this research. Normally, data is collected once every 4 years.

The digital questionnaire is completed by students in the second and fourth years of regular secondary education. The results of the study help developing policies to improve the health of secondary school students.

Every GGD gathers data in the same way. In addition to the standard questions, GGDs also ask questions about topics of local importance. These results are generally accessible through the GGD websites.

The latest results come from the Public Health Monitor Youth 2023. In the fall of 2023, over 188,000 students from 885 secondary schools participated. All secondary schools in the Netherlands were invited to participate. Results are available at national, regional and local level for all GGDs. Previous data collections took place in 2015, 2019 and 2021 (extra measurement due to the COVID-19 crisis).
